About Taupo

The Taupo District is in the heart of the North Island and is dominated by some of the country’s most beautiful lakes

Situated in the middle of the north island, Taupo is a truly beautiful part of New Zealand. Even at peak capacity over the New Year period, when holidaymakers flood in, you'll be amazed at just how peaceful and quiet it is.

The thriving area is synonymous with fly-fishing and adventure that makes it a 'must see' for international anglers and backpackers.

Close to Tongariro National Park (tramping), Whakapapa and Turoa (skiing), Taupo is home to New Zealand's largest lake, which in itself provides many recreational opportunities.

All parochialism aside, people from across New Zealand will tell you Taupo is an enviable location to retire or pick out a holiday home.
