About Otago

The Otago Region is the centre of adventure tourism and is gifted with stunning landscapes

For years local tourism has used the slogan 'it's all right here' and it really is.

On the east coast lies Dunedin, 'The Edinburgh of the South' and New Zealand's fifth largest city. This is a university town with great surf spots and some world-class wildlife, like the albatross colony on the Otago Peninsula.

Drive inland to Central Otago and you'll pass various abandoned gold mining towns before you reach Alexandra, a rich fruit-growing area.

Keep driving west and you will finally hit the adventure capital of the world. Skiing, jet boating, bungy-jumping…you name it, Queenstown has it all.

If you love adventure without so many tourists, look for properties around the Wanaka area. And if Dunedin's more your scene, good news – you can buy a substantial home for the price of a modest 2 bedroom apartment in Auckland.
